January 2021

Hello Fellow Horsemen!

After the show season was drastically shortened in 2020, I am fairly sure I’m not the only person who is ready to start showing horses again! I look forward to seeing everyone at the Gulf Coast Winter Warm-Up show, January 23 & 24 in Bryan, Texas!

The club was fortunate enough to obtain the North Arena for our upcoming show! This arena should be warmer in case the weather turns cold. Also, this show will be a “No Bling Show”. Leave all the fancy show clothes home and come have some fun! However, to stay within ApHC rules, we do request you wear a long sleeve collared shirt to show in. Jackets will be allowed due to temperatures.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we all must follow the rules set by the Brazos County Expo Center. And if you have had contact with anyone who has or may have COVID-19, please stay home. If you have an elevated temperature, again, please stay home.

BRAZOS COUNTY EXPO CENTER RULES
Masks are REQUIRED
Social distancing is required at all times
Sanitizer will be available throughout the facility
Wash hands with soap and water frequently
No congregating in stalling/stabling areas
No seating in barn aisles or walkways
Observe and obey all seating designations in and around arenas
ANYONE ON SITE NOT FOLLOWING POSTED PROTOCOLS MAY BE ASKED TO
LEAVE THE FACILITY

- Don’t forget to call Claudia and reserve your stalls!
- Use our online pre-entry to save you time once you get to the show!
- If you haven’t sent in your 2021 Gulf Coast ApHC Membership yet, you may do it at the show.
- Also, a 2021 ApHC Membership is required. Per ApHC rules, if you can’t produce proof of 2021 membership, you must pay for a membership at the show.

Thank You for Your Time!
Lora Marshall
Gulf Coast ApHC President

GULF COAST APPALOOSA HORSE CLUB NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2021

Are you ready? If not, get ready you will certainly not want to miss the upcoming Gulf Coast Winter Warm Up Horse show on January 23 & 24, at Brazos County Expo center.  By now you should know we only put on a top notch show with Appaloosa and open classes.  We strive for a stress free, fun show and always look forward to everyone coming back to our shows.  With that being said, we will continue to have great prizes, ribbons, and our treasure box to hunt through if you would like that instead of a ribbon.

Here are a few new changes you we hope will improve how the show runs.
  • Research was done and we moved around a few classes to make the show flows better. This should provide more time for riders to get ready for each class.
  • Have added an experienced horse show office entry clerk, who will also work with Dale Marshall (our outstanding show secretary, class entry person etc., we would never hold a show without him!). When you get a chance please welcome Rosemary Teate to the office.
  • For our shows at Brazos County Expo Center, we usually have the South arena. The North arena became available for January, and we snagged it!  The North arena is enclosed on three sides and will provide warmer riding if cold weather comes our way.  We will be back in the South arena for our April show.
  • We want to put the word out that the January show has approved no bling required, but you may if you want to wear sparkles. To stay within ApHC rules, we do ask you wear a collared shirt. Warm jackets will be allowed in all classes!
  • Masks will be required at all times except when showing in the arena. This is a Brazos County Expo Center requirement.
Friendly reminders:
  • Reserve stalls with Claudia Arnold email:  gulfcoastaphc@hotmail.com or carnold0001@hotmail.com or 281-639-2546
  • Early online registration: http://www.spotteddragon.com/entry/
  • Do not forget your up to date Coggins!
  • Out of state horses MUST have a Health Certificate within 30 days.
  • Proof of 2021 ApHC Membership must be provided. This is an ApHC rule we must follow.
  •  Be prepared for lots of “FUN
  • This show is “no bling”, so just bring your jeans and a collared shirt to show in.

With January comes the club membership renewal time, attached to this newsletter you should find a 2021 membership form.  We have hopes and dreams at the end of the year to offer club High Point awards, however this will only happen with you coming and supporting the Gulf Coast Appaloosa shows.  Donations play a big part in what we can offer at our shows, so please consider making a donation in any amount at the January show.
Last, but not least, we would like to mention a person that plays a huge part in how smoothly our shows run! We are so grateful for her hard work and support of every show.  Please when you see Carla Peacock our gate, announcer, ring steward, trail equipment person, and jack of all trades, give her a big pat on the back for a continuously great job.  We love and appreciate you Carla!
We also want to mention the Staff at the Brazos County Expo Center.  They seem to go out of their way to help in any way we need and greatly appreciate having our shows at the Brazos County Expo Center.  Thank you Brazos County Expo Center, great job and the amazing facility you provide us!

Thank you see you soon!
