Dear Club Members/Appaloosa Owners/Trainers,
So 2017 came and went with a bang, or thunder! Flooding, cold, wet bad weather has everyone now looking forward to Spring! We hope all of you came out safe, and are planning to come to the Gulf Coast Appaloosa Spring Fling Breed Show April 28th and 29th at Brazos County Expo Center in Bryan Texas.
Traditionally we offered 9 High point awards. This year we are awarding TROPHY BUCKLES and have added a tenth for High point NP Ranch Horse! Also, by popular demand, we have added timed barrels and poles as part of our class list. Our show will again be a 4 point show, however, we have received approval from the ApHC to have a three judge show with one double pointed approved judge to help save you money. We’re very excited to have Rick McLain, Carol Morris, and David Parlier judging our show! We would also appreciate volunteers to help in the show office and with setting up and removing show equipment from the arena. Please visit with one of the Officers or board members to see how you can help! It takes all of us to run a fun and well-organized show. As a reminder, now is the time to renew your membership. So if you haven’t had the chance, please send those in or bring it with you to the April show.
Due to a conflict of dates with the Appaloosa Congress show the board has voted to discontinue our August Summer Sensation show. Since Spring Fling will be our only show this year we encourage everyone to come support this show and the club. We promise you’ll have an unforgettably great time, make friends and lots fun memories. As in the past we will have our Club Auction outside the office, so be sure to look for items or goodies that you can’t live without. A welcome cake will be available for everyone in the office on Saturday. We will give out the “Welcome /Appreciation Goodie Buckets” as well. In addition we have a huge basket to be raffled off with everything a horse owner could want. Please feel free to send us pictures of your new foals and or Appaloosa purchases. We will be happy to showcase them on our website with a shout out to the owning member.
Please make a note of a new change in the office. At our upcoming April show, all horse stalls, tack stalls and shavings must be paid for upon check –in. We can no longer split the costs at the show desk or add to entry forms. Trainers coming in transporting a large load of horses may leave an open check for stalls and shavings. Please provide the office with a list of clients that will be paying for these horses. At end of the show any outstanding stalls or shavings not paid for by trainer’s clients will be added to trainers check. We regret this new change and have in the past waived outstanding unpaid balances but we can no longer afford to take these losses. We hope everyone will support this change.
We need Bodies! The board has several positions open. Do you have any ideas you’d like to share? Come join us!! Any age is welcome. The young bring new ideas and the older ones bring experience! We usually meet quarterly to go over plans and vote on any new plans. Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings, you don’t have to be on the Board. You do have to be on the Board to vote. Next board meeting will be February 10. See the club web for location and time or give one of the officers a call.
Hope to see you soon!
Gulf Coast Appaloosa Horse Club President
